Linda Stewart (Payne)
homemaker, foster parent, wedding rentals Married 8 2009-03-20 00:04:49
I have been happily married to Doug Payne (whom I dated in high school) for almost 35 years.  We have 6 girls and 2 boys and 14 grandchildren so far.  No. 15 will arrive in August.  We bounced around a bit with Doug's work at the Post Office but finally settled in Victoria BC.  He is due to retire in just 6 weeks.  Maybe we will take a trip to Mexico.
We have been foster parents for 18 years and must like it since we are still doing it.  I don't even know how many kids have been through our home.
I am also a dula (professional labour coach).  I  have been working with  unwed birth parents on a volunteer  basis for 23 years so I decided to get some training.  It came in handy for all my grandchildren (except the c section ones).
I have just started my own wedding rental business because I ended up with so much stuff from the weddings of my 6 daughters.  So I decided to buy more stuff and go into business.   It is my first year and I think I am doing quite well.
We live on 10 beautiful acres but our dog died, our chickens died,  and we killed the pigs  and sheep.  We were thinking about the foster kids but decided to stop there.  It worked out well because we were wondering what to do with everything when we go to Mexico.  Is that morbid or what!
That about catches you up for the last 35 years.  Hope to so everyone on the 40th

Attempted a Mt. Royal business program immediately after high school, unfortunately the demands of life leaped into my path and working was the priority at that time. Tried my hand at a few different jobs until I was enlightened of an opening at The Royal Bank data center, '75. Pursued that line till '77 and then entered the world of A.G.T., '77 also became engaged prior to the start of my A.G.T./Telus career. While embarking on this career a few years later along came son #1, '79 and a few years later, '82 son #2 came into the picture. I'm the stay at home type, working always, providing for home and family. The working element came to a screeching halt in 2003 whereupon this MS disease that stole into my life took over and disrupted the natural order of things. I keep as busy as my disabilities allow, which isn't too long these days. I can only do what I can, when I can and maintain a constant vigil on not overdoing anything. I
was so looking forward to golfing and traveling when retirement was in sight, however, I'm content in with the little I'm able to still do and definitely encourage my wife, Valerie to travel when she can, Turkey last year and the Dominican the previous year. The walking involved and embarking/disembarking from tour buses just isn't conducive to persons with handicaps. I enjoy the pictures and narratives of the adventures.

Deb and I have been married since 1976.  We have 2 children, 1 grandson and another grandchild due in July '09.  Being a grandfather (Poppa) is definitely the most rewarding job.  Look forward to seeing everyone in 2013. Send Alen a MessageSend Alen a Message
