I truly hope that everyone is well. I have been working at Lord Beaverbrook for the past 10 years as a student counselor; so DES JA VOUS, IT'S BEEN WEIRD working there when as a teenager, I  fought to get out of there:)

Have not missed a reunion yet, looking forward to the 40th.

Well, I guess I'm ready to try to summarize 40 years. I went into Computer Science, did a Bachelor's and Master's at the UofC. I've worked on some fascinating projects in engineering, process control, A.I. and simulation. I met an amazing woman, married, and have 3 wonderful kids, all grown up now!

 

Mid-way along, I became increasingly depressed over an issue I'd always had, but finally addressed: a conviction that deep down I would have been far more suited to life as a member of the other sex. So, working my way through that I've done the whole sex and gender change, and now I'm Kayla. And life is indeed better in the ways that matter to me. My marriage didn't survive the process, but I'm still connected to my kids and my ex. I've found that almost everyone reacts quite positively. I'm still the same person, just more like myself!

 

40 years ago I could not have begun to think this would be in my future, but life can take some very unusual turns! The photo of me is a still from my on-line video pitch for the Mars One colonization project. I'd be honoured to go if they asked me, but just seeing how far I get in the selection process will certainly be - interesting!

 

I look forward to seeing some of you at the 40th reunion. 40 years, Wow!

I live in Kelowna with my sweet hubby of almost 29 years. We are both artists and I love to write and do photography. We have 2 amazing children and 2 grand daughters who are a delight. Both our children live here as well so we are very blessed.
